Organisation

Clear organisation can make a huge difference when it comes to studying.

  • Divide each subject into different sections, using folders or digital methods. This will help you find subjects more easily, particularly during open book tests.

  • Use mind maps or time lining for overviewing concepts and the module. You can also use this technique for planning essays by breaking down concepts into visible chunks.

  • Students with concentration issues or sensitivity to flickering or moving text may benefit from coloured overlays. PDF files can be set to open with your preference colour background.

Consolidation

Consolidation is how you prepare to revise.

  • Colour-code different kinds of information. This can provide useful visual prompts. For example, putting all your notes on green paper, tables on blue and mind maps on yellow.

  • Arrange your information, merging categories and topics to make them easy to find.

  • Use formatting such as bold text to make key facts stand out.

  • Ensure your notes are clear and concise.

Revision
  • Practice – Print a practise test and give it a try. This will help you to see the areas you need improvement in. Pay extra attention to these areas until you are completely confident.

  • Memory games - If you are struggling to remember key things, try creating a memory game to support acquisition
